Wonderful photos. Thank you for posting them. We have friends in Charles Town that have been trying to get us to visit. Looks like now we really do need to go. Sad, I was born and raised in WV and was never in that area of the state.
Those of you who do come to visit should also consider walking downtown Charles Town & Shepherdstown; both are within about 10 minutes of Harpers Ferry and offer a variety of shops, restaurants, architecture and history.
If you want to spend more time in HF take a walk across the old railroad bridge to the C&O canal towpath which is great for a hike or bike to Sharpsburg or Brunswick MD. From there you can follow the trail up to the Maryland Heights overlook which provides a nice view of Harpers Ferry or you can park on the south side of the Shenandoah and hike up to Loudoun Heights. There are also several raft/canoe/tubing outfits in the area which provide ample opportunity to get in the water around HF when it's warm.
Another street to stroll while in HF is Ridge street where you'll find the Hilltop House. It's been recently purchased and is suppose to undergo a major renovation. With the recent economic downturn though, I'm not sure the plans are moving ahead as originally scheduled. Historic Hilltop House Hotel
Enjoy the visit!
Feel free to DM if anyone has more specific questions about visiting. I've lived here over 30 years and even spent a few years working in downtown HF.

One of my favorite places to visit... We're about 40 minutes from there and I take the family often... One of the most beautiful towns in the U.S. IMO...
Brick Sidewalks are new since the entrence fee! O IF your handicap you can get to Jefferson Rock from the Church! No stairs to climb!
