That is comedy gold, Roy. Wu's website and this rant gets posted everyone once in a while, and I encourage everyone to look up Winston Wu, who's made it his purpose in life to talk about how much he hates American culture- especially the dating scene. He runs a strange, kind of hilarious website about how to score with foreign women.

Wu lived here for a little while 20-25 years ago and hated everything about this place. But wait- wasn't that before the influx of newcomers that you all claim to have ruined our city? Maybe the "good old days" weren't as great as some people are making it sound . OR, maybe people have different preferences, and some people like it, and some people don't.

As to your "boring carnival" comment, yep, it's pretty slow here. I'm not sure what kind of interesting attractions you wish we had, but it's worth remembering that our nickname is "The City of Subdued Excitement"!

Here?s another interactive experiment you can try. If you are in Bellingham, you can go to the shopping mall, Bellis Fair, or a crowded park like Boulevard Park. There, try to meet girls. In the mall, you will find that the only girls who will talk to you are the ones working there who are paid to help you find what you want to buy. The rest will ignore you in a stuck up manner, acting as though it were against the social rules to try to meet them. Even if you find girls sitting by themselves in the food court, they will tell you that they prefer to be alone, if you try to join them. How sadistically reclusive! Who likes to be alone while they eat?! In the park, when you greet them, they will put up a strong distant and defensive vibe toward you. They may humor you for a while, or talk to you if you have something in common, but they will cut the conversation short and make an excuse to withdraw and get back to their own business, which doesn?t include you. After a while, it becomes pointless to even try anymore.

i guess im sort of reclusive and i wouldnt talk to others while eating,but western wa is pretty odd i think

maybe people just date church members which a good idea or people hook up by craiglist

id google which state does that the most

people have to work 2 jobs due to democrat policies i think,so few date now

People work two jobs or live with others so they date less and even if they dated it's unattractive to date people with no money or who don't have their own place.

It seems we never recovered from the great recession and culturely have been changed to become more reclusive.

Down the slide things continue. I'm not sure if the homeless are being given hotel vouchers due to the cold/snow or are paying for their stays with their sold off stolen goods, but they are in many of the hotels now, bringing more theft, drugs, prostitution, and a bed bug "outbreak" with them ewww Combined with most of the hotels being understaffed and therefore not getting cleaned well, it's a disgusting disaster unfolding. Can't name and shame, but some of the places I wouldn't have expected to have issues that aren't near the bottom of the price range, are. Check recent reviews before booking, and there is also a website where people can report bed bugs.
Even if you're just passing through or flying out of B'ham and stay in a hotel, you may find your ride without wheels/tires in the morning and take home some new "pets" with you. A friend of mine that moved to Spokane was back visiting family here and found his few year-old Tundra without it's 18" wheels in the morning, he dodged the bed bugs though.
HD has been getting robbed so badly that now if you want power tools, wire, and so on, it's all locked up. You have to flag someone down, get your goods, and then get escorted to the checkout. Alot of the carts have also been stolen so be prepared to carry everything by hand.
