I don't have to assume, I've owned one. My brother still has one. And you're FOS. Neither of us have never got 30mpg in a bone-stock WRX no matter how gingerly we drive/drove them -- never mind in an STi. 28mpg is the best I ever did at standard highway speeds.
Oh ok I guess you would know my car and my driving habits better than me, huh?
Did you know that in 2008 the EPA completely changed the way gas mileage is rated??????????????????????????? If you are only getting whats on the sticker you drive like a maniac.
Yes, they changed the values to be better representative of how people normally drive. But the mpg sticker values are still conservative particularly for enthusiasts in sports cars.
Really? We are debating gas mileage on a performance car with full time AWD?
25mpg mixed is great for a car that offers this kind of performance.
If you want MPG, go get a Prius.
We're "debating" it because fuel economy was one of the OP's stated criteria.

I know enough to know that you're FOS and I've grown tired of people exaggerating the fuel economy of their cars the same way they used to exaggerate the power output.
