They don’t get a choice. It’s not how development works. Again, don’t pull up the drawbridge after you got yours.
Or move back to Orangeburg.
Yeah.. its all about the $$$ and tax base.. Residents could try to push the City/County politicos not to rezone property to allow for subdivisions.. but typically the developers have already gotten to the politicians and the land use may favor suburban development. In some cases residents have ban together to outweigh the developers with the politicos to stop rezonings because of concerns of traffic, school overcrowding and environmental concerns but generally that is when the train has already left the station and they are trying to play from behind....to slow it down
It certainly doesn't stop Mt. Pleasant from trying.
Mt Pleasant has the benefit that it's mostly built out until you get to the Francis Marion Forest. At this point they've got no real choice but to build up if more people want to move to MP.
Zoning can affect design, restricting sprawl and encouraging density, if people in rural counties and towns don’t get caught off guard and wait too late. It’s not about the number of people. It’s about design.
MS and LA are similar and cheaper but not WAY cheaper lol.
