Yes, but those I've talked to don't PLAN to stop. Who knows how they're affording it or what the long-term effects may be.

It’s my understanding that doctors won’t prescribe it indefinitely from what I’ve seen on the news about this drug. In regard to you wanting to lose weight if you’re at a healthy BMI then your body may be at its set point for your age. For example my BMI is now 25 but I was much thinner in high school but I am at my set point for this age. The only people I have seen get back to their high school weight were men.

With a BMI of 27-28, I'm "overweight." Again, it's all in one place, so I think I'd be an excellent candidate for liposuction and am considering that. I'm a hiker and engage in other sports and know a lot of active, healthy, skinny older women. Some are TOO thin, so I'm sure they're still at their HS weights or thereabouts. The only clue I can get out of them is that none ever took HRT, whereas I did.

Yes, but not yet the age you specified.

Is it time to just accept that I will never again be a size 6/8?
What's a size 6 or size 8? Vanity sizing has completely taken over in the last 30 years. Instead, go by your actual measurements, not a "size," which is arbitrary and morphs over time. Most important of all is % of lean body weight and % of body fat. Get a DEXA scan for an accurate assessment of those.

I have T2D, and I've been taking 2 meds: Metformin (24+ years) and more recently Mounjaro (18 months). For the first time in probably 20 years, I have normal A1c and fasting glucose.

Metformin is used for a variety of things, a more recent usage is that people are having success using it to manage their weight, lose some lbs or maintain their loss since it helps control blood sugar spikes and insulin resistance. It's dirt cheap since it's generic. If I miss a Metformin dose, I feel it within several hours, as I get hungrier and don't feel as satiated, plus my body is used to it.

That’s interesting about the HRT and I had never heard that. I didn’t take it because my mom did for 30 years and ended up with breast cancer. My doctor said being on it was irresponsible on the part of her doctor because my mom was 78 and basically that’s what caused it. I wasn’t taking any chances so suffered through 20 years of horrendous hot flashes.

Are they now prescribing it for weight loss or still just T2D? Seems it'd be a safer option since it's been around a while.

I read that it was under consideration as a weight loss drug but it was decided against it because of the side effects of the drug. My last ex has type 2 and lost 80 lbs once he went on it.
