Those saying "this should be every day; not just one day," the same applies to professing your love (Valentine's Day), showing gratitude (Thanksgiving), dressing up and partying (Halloween, Mardi Gras), giving gifts (birthdays, Christmas), and yet we designate certain days for these things, too, and no one objects...
Your argument makes no sense. Why would anyone object to having designated days for people to gather and party? Because they do those things all year anyway? I'm really not following your logic.
I used to try to do New Years Resolutions, but I’m weak. They rarely last longer than a week. Heck, I make resolutions nightly, but rarely follow through.

You clearly do not get the point of celebrations, do you?
I am very self motivated so never had a need for resolutions. I did decide to complete my European travel bucket list so booked a trip for April 2023 and 2024.
I stopped doing that quite awhile back, I guess because it started seeming childish.
I tend to have a mixture of course corrections or improvements on a daily basis; some starting, some quite aways in, and some nearing completion. Nothing formal or out-there like resolutions, but essentially the same thing.
It's like the difference between being thankful just one day of the year (at Thanksgiving), versus being thankful every day, without the outward trappings and attention-seeking. A more mature approach.
I don't make set-in-stone New Year's resolutions anymore. Somewhere along the way, I realized that I will make changes when I'm ready & prepared to, and those realizations almost never fall on New Years.
But I will say that I think it's helpful to reassess one's life regularly (annually is good), and consider any "course corrections" that may be beneficial in the near future. They may not get done in the coming year, but the seed gets planted. Self-awareness is good thing.
Continue rehabbing my ankle that likely had a mild fracture a couple of months ago. I can get around, but too much hiking is in unbearable.
Take better care of myself. I went to the dentist today for the first time in at least ten years.
I need to move away from this area for many reasons. Yes, it will be costly, but it needs to happen.
