Jos 10:12Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.
And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. [Is] not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.
And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel.

Jasher 88:63-65 Book of Jasher 88
Quote:
And when they were smiting, the day was declining toward evening, and Joshua said in the sight of all the people, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon, and thou moon in the valley of Ajalon, until the nation shall have revenged itself upon its enemies.
And the Lord hearkened to the voice of Joshua, and the sun stood still in the midst of the heavens, and it stood still six and thirty moments, and the moon also stood still and hastened not to go down a whole day.
And there was no day like that, before it or after it, that the Lord hearkened to the voice of a man, for the Lord fought for Israel.

Christian Evidences -Chinese history speaks of Yao, their king, declaring that in his reign the sun stood so long above the horizon that it was feared the world would have been set on fire; and fixes the reign of Yao at a given date, which corresponds with the age of Joshua the son of Nun. . .

So, biblically, the sun stood still and did not run its course in the heavens, around the earth for almost one whole day, and other ancient writings agree.

The Bible and 1 Enoch and the Book of Jasher and the Book of Jubilees, never contradict each other nor themselves about the sun running its course in the heavens, daily, and rising in the east and setting in the west, nor do they contradict themselves about the earth, itself, being fixed in its place and being the origin from whence the heavens were stretched out from, by the dividing of the waters of creation, with the heaven stretched out between the divided waters; in which heavens the sun, moon, and stars were placed on day 4, and given courses to run in the heavens, to regulate/govern the light of day 1, and to govern the times and seasons, forever.

According to a Haida story, in the beginning the world was in total darkness.

The Raven, who had existed from the beginning of time, was tired of groping about and bumping into things in the dark.

Eventually the Raven came upon the home of an old man who lived alone with his daughter. Through his slyness, the Raven learned that the old man had a great treasure. This was all the light in the universe, contained in a tiny box concealed within many boxes. At once the Raven vowed to steal the light.

He thought and thought, and finally came up with a plan. He waited until the old man's daughter came to the river to gather water. Then the Raven changed himself into a single hemlock needle and dropped himself into the river, just as the girl was dipping her water-basket into the river.

As she drank from the basket, she swallowed the needle. It slipped and slithered down into her warm belly, where the Raven transformed himself again, this time into a tiny human. After sleeping and growing there for a very long time, at last the Raven emerged into the world once more, this time as a human infant.

Even though he had a rather strange appearance, the Raven's grandfather loved him. But the old man threatened dire punishment if he ever touched the precious treasure box. Nonetheless the Ravenchild begged and begged to be allowed to hold the light just for a moment.

In time the old man yielded, and lifted from the box a warm and glowing sphere, which he threw to his grandson.

As the light was moving toward him, the human child transformed into a gigantic black shadowy bird-form, wings spread ready for flight, and beak open in anticipation. As the beautiful ball of light reached him, the Raven captured it in his beak!

Moving his powerful wings, he burst through the smoke-hole in the roof of the house, and escaped into the darkness with his stolen treasure.

And that is how light came into the universe.

Do you believe this story?

That is not what the bible and other ancient writings say, though, so I am not confused.

I believe the Word of God, and that is what the Word of God says, and it says much more than that about the sun, and about its fast running course from one extreme of the heavens to the other extreme of the heavens.
He says He dwells in His temple set in the sun, and in another place, it is said by the Psalmist that He rides the heavens by His name, "YAH".

In another place it says that He dwells in the "circuit" of the heavens and it says that from His dwelling there that the inhabitants of earth are as grasshoppers in His sight.

It also says that in the tribulation which is coming [after the saints who are ready to meet Him are taken out of the midst of the world] that an angel will come out of His temple set in the sun and will smite the sun with one of the vials filled with the wrath of God, and that will cause such an increase of global warming that if God did not shorten the days and nights by one third of their hours [by moving the earth out of its set place], then all flesh on earth would perish.

Rev 15:1
And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God.
Rev 15:2 And I saw as it were a sea of glass [the crystal sea before the throne in heaven, mingled with fire that Enoch also wrote of]...
Rev 15:5 And after that I looked, and, behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened [the "tabernacle" set in the sun]:
And the seven angels came out of the temple, having the seven plagues, clothed in pure and white linen, and having their breasts girded with golden girdles. And one of the four beasts gave unto the seven angels seven golden vials full of the wrath of God, who liveth for ever and ever....

Rev 16:8 And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire. Rev 16:9 And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.

The sun has everything to do with "global warming" -or not warming, but you "ain't' seen nothin' yet"!

While I will never be able to convince YSM of her vast and stubborn errors here, for the rest of you, be assured that all measurements, space flights, simple Newtonian physics, logic, common sense and the most rudimentary of observations and conclusions will ABSOLUTELY confirm that the Earth and the other planets all revolve around the massively huge, gravitationally dominant sun. Absolutely NOT POSSIBLE the other way around, which would have an enormously heavy orbiting sun fling itself off into space. It's a mass thing, not a religious thing, but never try to confuse fantasy with logic when Christian literacy is involved...

It's like you tying a golf ball to a long string and spinning it around your head, versus YSM's idea that the golf ball could swing YOU around it's micro little lightweight body. Not likely, now is it? It's not even possible.

Then, toss in some funny stories about the Sun suddenly stopping by Godly decree one fine afternoon, it's mass and inertia suddenly reduced to zero, but then magically (a key word here...) then turned back on again a day later when some guy wants it to be. and what forces push it back up to speed? Even if it did rotate around the Earth, which it doesn't?

What this all PROVES is that the written word of the bible IS errant in so many ways, from Noah's Ark through a flat earth, to co-existing dinos and on to the sun, indeed the entire universe, revolving around the Earth.

Since that cannot be, and in fact has been observed to NOT be, then we can happily realize that the bible is..... WRONG.

Now, YSM will conveniently post a wall of biblical scripture, but we've already shown that it's incorrect, so she has to come up with a better, actually logical explanation. Which is also impossible.

The final conclusion? Well, you guessed it!

the thing you got wrong above, about what the Bible does say [and dragon and beheme/beast are Bible words for what are renamed "dinosaurs" in the 19th century] is that the Bible never, ever, at any time, in any place, makes a claim that the earth is "flat". In fact, the word for "world" -"tebel"- in Hebrew means "globe", and the root etymons of it in Hebrew have to do with "swelling" -"bl"- from which "bulb", "ball", "balloon" -and all "swelling" words- come from.
PS: I am not the author of the Bible nor the ancient writings which state that the sun -and stars- rotate around the earth. I'm just putting forth what they do say. BTW, how fast are you claiming that the earth is traveling through space around the sun? How many miles per second are you claiming the earth is moving while spinning?
