I am currently trying to learn how to play Bach's Prelude in C Major by memory. I've got about half of it down now...
I heard it some time ago and somehow it "touched me" to the point of inspiring me to learn how to play it myself. That's a rare occurrence. Most of the music I play is my own, because it's easier for me to create, play and remember my own stuff than try to learn and remember the music from others, but there are many songs I love to listen to and wish I could play. Gotta love music!
George Winston (RIP) wrote and played many a piece I still listen to on a regular basis. Other Windham Hill artists are among my favorites too. If I were to call any music heavenly, it would be music like this.
Amazing Grace — never tire of it, always brings tears of gratitude…..
But #2 is Leonard Cohen’s “Here it is”
The mystery of surrendering to Jesus’s and God’s love and deep compassion behind all the darkness, cruelty, and suffering of this world

Just a solo instrument but one of the greatest pieces of music of all time.
Yes, and funny you should post that piano tutorial video, because I have used those to learn a piece or two. Thinking my ability to read a sheet of music was lacking. Something I had not done in many years. However the use of a piano tutorial video is very difficult, so I broke down and got the sheet music over the Internet. Free!
Turns out I can still read sheet music better than I thought...
Besides the Prelude in C Major piece I'm half done learning by heart, I've learned to play one other piece I also consider something of a master piece. Clair de Lune. I learned all of it to the point where your fingers need to flow all over the keyboard beyond what I'm able. Still, I love playing the part I've learned. The first part, and people seem to enjoy hearing what I can play when the opportunity presents itself.
Otherwise, I just play my own compositions which as mentioned before is much easier for me to play and retain. All a very nice treat for me to say the least. Not to mention my love of listening to music of all kinds. I have thousands of songs in my music library, and I listen to them every morning while I dabble here and there in this forum. While they random shuffle from one artist to another.
About time for me to sign off now, however, because it's about that time for me to prepare our customary BSB. I listen to my music while cooking breakfast too.
I listen to all the music, that one piano piece was awesome, never cared for Yo Yo though.
Thanks everyone.
That one piano youtube with the keys falling like rain is genius, had me thinking I could play Clair Du Lune, that would be a dream, the player is one of the best I have seen
