We pray to You, the Meaning that Resides in Words.
We pray to You with words of beauty and purity
Cure this world of affliction and make us whole by Your grace.
— Sri Rudram. My loose translation.
(Divinity is that which reside as Meaning in everything. It is by which we know. That which resides in you becomes what you pray for - love, courage, wholeness, liberty.)
"Love is the heart of all religions; the theme of all classical works of art and literature; the song of all devotees. Scientists know only what love does, not what love is. Love is to human hearts what the sun is to flowers."
“What a person imagines he hears, and what the speaker has really implied, may be poles apart. Try to feel the thoughts behind the confusion of men’s verbiage.” - Sri Yukteswar.
“It is always the false that makes you suffer, the false desires and fears, the false values and ideas,
the false relationships between people.
Abandon the false and you are free of pain; truth makes happy, truth liberates.”
"The vastest knowledge of today cannot transcend the buddhi of the Rishis in ancient India; and science in its most advanced stage now is closer to Vedanta than ever before."
---from Alfred Whitehead (1861-1947), a British philosopher and mathematician
and here are some from:
"The rock-like state in which all thoughts are still and which is different from the waking and dream states, is one’s supreme state."
---Yoga Vasistha
Advaita Bodha Deepika is a text on methods and techniques of Advaita Vedanta. It was "a favourite text of Sri Ramana Maharshi and was often recommended by him." Here is what it says about how to attain liberation, from Chapter 3:
"With complete stillness of mind, samsara will disappear root and branch. Otherwise there will be no end to samsara, even in millions of aeons.
"Cannot samsara be got rid of by any means other than making the mind still?
"Absolutely by no other means. Only stillness of mind can accomplish the end and nothing else."
The text Advaita Bodha Deepika, Lamp of Non-Dual Knowledge, is written by Sri Karapatra Swami
The Creator, in taking infinite pains to shroud with mystery His presence in every creation, could have but one motive - a sensitive desire that men seek Him only through free will.
