Just started these exercises and wondering if they build strength and a lean build.

Anyone have some long term experience with these exercises?

That's a cool exercise. Does really most of trunk indeed.

Ultimately, you can use them for any of your goals. It all depends on execution timing. Good part - you use your body weight, so you will never hurt yourself.

I can think of all kinds of exercises or activities (many of them rather dumb) where a person using only their body weight could hurt themselves.

Default Yes!

If you get the chance, look into the complete "Sun Salutation". Start slow, don't over-stretch and within a couple weeks you will notice a big difference in your body.

Can't fix stupid, but sure can tell them. Someone can hurt himself with a flower petal, doing stupid stuff. Otherwise, body is set to handle its own weight.

Any exercise that challenges the muscle will build strength and muscle, especially if that challenge comes somewhere between 5-30 repetitions (if you can comfortably do 500 Hindu squats, probably won't do much strength wise).

To get a lean body, you need to mind your calories.

PS I realize someone revived this thread.
