Although Divine Wisdom or Theo-sophia has been the heart of most spiritual paths for aeons, the modern presentation was given by Helena Blavatsky, W.Q Judge, Katherine Tingley and others.

Here is a small work surveying some of the main teachings:

"Elementary Theosophy" - Theosophical Manual (K. Tingley series)

Thanks for that, though really we are looking for some discussion -point here rather than just posting a book of Wisdom for people to read.

But we'll see what's the response.

Like philosophy which is part of the seven liberal art , so to is Theosophy which is of the seven liberal art which is not authored by God , but under the spirit of the world fallen angel sophia and part of the ideas of freemasonry , and people who engage can be bothered by the spirit of the world which is not of the living God through Jesus ...... See Theosophy belief substitutes God with a false vision which means it is idolatry .......... Believe if you must ....

hljc, I suspect you did not read any of the little book. It does say:

Quote:
Theosophy as a whole... is based absolutely on the ubiquitous presence of God, the Absolute Deity...
Granted, the God revered by theosophists is not exactly the God you revere, but the 'spirit of the world' is very much rejected by Theosophy.

Added thought - There are Christian theosophists whose notion of God is personal and Jesus Christ is considered his Son. So all theosophists are not clones of each other, nor are all fixated on defining God. Some just make use of reincarnation and karma or perhaps are inspired by the universal brotherhood idea.

Theosophy has much to offer and does not require everyone to believe the same. Freedom of thought is very strong there.

That's a good start . A mor all -encompassing god-concept versus one that is doctrineal/secarian specific and all those not part of the select group ..well, you'll find out.

Default more grist for the mill

Below was written well over 100 years ago. Has mankind become less vicious and selfish since then?

Quote:
Spirituality is on its ascending arc, and the animal or physical impedes it from steadily progressing on the path of its evolution only when the selfishness of the personality has so strongly infected the real inner man with its lethal virus, that the upward attraction has lost all its power on the thinking reasonable man.
In sober truth, vice and wickedness are an abnormal, unnatural manifestation, at this period of our human evolution — at least they ought to be so. The fact that mankind was never more selfish and vicious than it is now, civilized nations having succeeded in making of the first an ethical characteristic, of the second an art, is an additional proof of the exceptional nature of the phenomenon.
Blavatsky

True enough, but for one new to Theosophy that text is too scattered about, they were letters not written for publication anyway.

But what do you think about the question - Has mankind become less vicious and selfish since Blavatsky's era? There are some pluses, such as animals being treated less badly & more concern for ecosystems of the planet. Yet human and national relations are still the pits, generally speaking.
