Male rape (which we know has been used by heterosexual men for thousands of years to dominate and humiliate other men) was not the point of the story, and it's not what 'homosexuality' is anyway.
The Bible really doesn't address the idea of men raping men out of an alpha-dog mentality. It isn't about men being mean to each other. Homosexual acts are vile and evil. That's it. It's an abomination. Sodom was considered sinful and perverse long before the angels got there. Remember the conversation Abraham had where he bargained for Sodom's fate?

Actually nobody knows if Sodom actually even existed, and the story is pure fiction, fiction that has caused a lot of unwarranted hatred.

I'm sorry that you guys have a problem with a basic teaching of Christianity. This is what Christianity has taught for 2000 years. Yes...homosexuality is a sin.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but to me it seems as if you have no problem with the virgin daughters being raped, whereas I find both concepts equally abominable. The point is that they wanted to rape somebody. Rape is abominable whether the victim is male or female, and even worse if a child is raped, irrespective of their gender or orientation.

Of course, this just my own point of view. I'm an agnostic female. I wonder where my moral compass came from.

Do you have proof that the story is based on real events and that Sodom actually existed as a real place?

You could respond with some actual evidence instead of sarcasm.

I'm sorry there are people like you abusing the Bible and using it to 'preach' vilification and hatred of gay and lesbian people. Not everyone agrees with your ideas about Christianity or your interpretations of scripture.

But as usual, you seem to believe that your interpretations and beliefs are the only correct ones. The fact that you think straight men raping other men is actually 'homosexuality' shows that you have no idea what homosexuality even is.

So show me your evidence that Sodom was a real place, and keep the snark to yourself....What, you don't have any? Well that is because there is none...How anyone can believe things "because it's in the bible" is beyond me....It is bad enough that the bible lies about events, but also includes fictional cities.
