Stores closing due to kids running in, stealing items, and flipping for cash right outside to street vendors who sell at a discount.

NY, DC, LA, all major blue cities all the same issue

Really? Lately, I've been using expensive hand lotion because I'm constantly washing my hands and that dries them up something awful. It's not a problem in the summer. Maybe instead of using lotion, I should stop using bar soap!
I'm going to try Dr. Bronner.

And I've heard good things about Tom's. How is it better than Colgate if I may ask.

Seeing everything locked up in a local business is like seeing the local variety store selling meth pipes. Both are clear indicators your neighborhood is on the decline and it is time to move.

The store closings, locking up items, more security has been an issue across the country where "justice reforms" have essentially decriminalized theft.

There are certainly some other factors but it's just the way it is. When Portland closed their walmarts it was sad because you could see them keeping stores open in the adjacent city a few miles away where they didn't change their policing\prosecution.

As a friend once told me, everyone is selectively broke. What I may deem worth spending money on another won't.
