Who knows...? The fast food industry as we know it is all but doomed at this point though, and I think forced massive minimum wage hikes have a lot to do with it.

The major chains like McDonalds, Burger King and Wendys will survive. They are large operations that can install those ordering kiosks and automated food prep is on the way. It's the local NYC diner, cafe, coffee shop that is being damaged.

You'll get your food from Gov't approved stores. Ones controlled buy your Gov't and corporate masters.

As quickly as they raise the minimum wage, the prices of everything else goes up even higher and faster. So the delivery workers ended up losing wages.

Delivery workers are not employees, they are independent contractors and should not be given some protected status. Businesses will always pass on the cost down to consumers which delivery workers are also consumers.

Keep hiking up minimum wage and see how far that goes.

More people could afford to walk to get their food. Obesity rates keep going up. If you are gonna eat crappy food at least take the walk to get it. Do something good for yourself.

the best thing about door dash was we didn’t have to just go local …we ordered from other areas all the time so it isn’t about walking , it’s about driving

Depends on your area. You live in more of a suburban area.
But either way, it's good for people to get off their butts and outta their apartment.

i live in bay terrace and bell blvd is filled with great restaurants..but we like restaurants in great neck or whitestone so it saved us from driving .

in fact when my wife and i were released from the hospital after covid , we were ordering 3 meals a day from door dash for about 10 days ..

it saved us a lot of money because we would have needed someone to cook and shop for us full time ..

it was great . we were like on vacation ….but neither of us could do it

You couldn't live a couple of weeks on frozen dinners, sandwiches, and canned goods? Just curious!
