It also often takes two, three cops or more sometimes to subdue a nutjob in crisis. He was alone and tried to detain him without the ability to cuff him and the guy was probably not going to be "zen yoga" if released.

I also sympathize with the guy for stepping in. It’s a sad situation all around.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but choke holds are banned by NYPD, right? However, there are people, here, supportive of civilian use......!

It’s an effective way to put people to sleep. No everyone can land a knee to the jaw.

Weren’t there people who said they were threatened ?
Either way, I think people have gotten too used to morons acting out in subways. This one got stopped dead in his tracks! No big loss.

We're letting lawyers and woke mobs take over politics. What will happen in the future is that the police will be nothing more than ticket writers and evidence takers. Don't expect the police to make any arrest because it cost more money in lawsuits to make an arrest than let the victim get hurt.

Making an arrest probably costs around $50-100k per criminal if the lawyer files some kind of false statement which the city settles.

Letting the victim file a complaint = $0.

Eventually the cesspool will contaminate itself.

Lawyers serve their purpose, just like anybody else that has to make money in order to survive

Don't judge

Pun intended

There is no defense because there was no assault. The guy will likely be convicted.

Anyone who tries to intervene in a crime in NYC is a flat-out idiot. If it doesn't involve you, leave. No matter what is occurring or who the victim is.

In the past year, I've quickly removed myself from two situations where people were asking for help. The second one happened like 2 weeks ago. My conscience is 100% clear. This is the world we live in now.

threatened ? being scared doesn’t qualify for deadly force

that might qualify for physical force if he put his hands on someone first , but even that didn’t happen.
