You think I havent been affected by violent crime? I've been held up at gunpoint before and had someone pull out a razor on me before too. Both situations I escaped without injury.
I was simply addressing your claim that you haven’t felt it necessary to own a gun. Good for you; you’re very lucky you didn’t need one in those situations. Others feel differently.

I’ve never once disputed that point.
A simple question - do you believe that people ever use firearms to defend themselves, and if you do believe that, do you believe it is only in small token numbers of instances, or in large numbers of instances (10’s of thousands)?

if brakes on a car work , why do we need seat belts ? if seat belts work , why do we need air bags ? if air bags work why do we need crumple zones in cars ?
because they all work in different situations and are part of a package of things that protect us .
