Wasn't it nicer when cops were able to do their jobs up until citizens complained.
Now cops are not allowed to do their jobs but still get paid.

Cops 1
Citizens 0

This thread actually made me think of something
If NYS relaxed its gun laws and everyone was armed, would we still need police? What do you guys think?

Sure would need police

Back in the 1990s we had as many as tens of thousands carrying here when we still had the old target hunting permit which in the eyes of the state was really a carry permit restricted by your request

If you got caught carrying it was only a permit misuse Today with the resident permit it is a crime So most no longer carry

So there were loads carrying and yet there were few events of someone licensed shooting anyone and we still needed police

Long Island still has the target hunting permit and plenty carry Yet same thing

Thats an interesting take, seeing as that 1990s crime levels dwarf 2023 (since we're only a few weeks into the New Year).

For all intent and purpose those were like carry permits

Which is why they were done away with and we were all converted to residence permits

But still the same target hunting permit is in use in Long Island

New York State law has no such thing as a target hunting permit so one was made out of a carry permit and stamped restricted to hunting target shooting

It was restricted by your request since you had to check a box as to why you wanted a permit

If you didn’t check target hunting you didn’t get it

I've lived in this city my whole life and never felt it was necessary to own a gun

And arguably one of the worst neighborhoods to boot

Guess myself and others are just lucky

No one is ever affected by violent crime, until the first they’re affected by violent crime.

You think I havent been affected by violent crime? I've been held up at gunpoint before and had someone pull out a razor on me before too. Both situations I escaped without injury.
