Yeah, I am a transplant from the Northeast and I totally agree with Jamrasc. The beaches here are so much better.

It's not clear like the fl keys or anything and the sand in the keys is more white and pretty however the waves at myrtle are much bigger and more fun to ride a raft on however the water is more dark and scary lol (:

The Beaches on the east cast are all in general "merky" we dont have large Coral Reefs like the Gulf and Caribbean to filter the water. Also our coast line is in open ocean. its not blocked or tucked away like the gulf and Caribbean. so nateraly we are going to have cloudier water.

I heard that they dumped raw sewage into the ocean and that makes the water colored.
