Lol! I'm not picking on you, but I always find it funny when people from up north say it is hot outside when it gets past 80.
85 is just a typical summer day on my side of the state. 90's Ill start complaining. But then again, 90's are typical for my relatives down south so I suppose I shouldn't complain either.

I lived in Duluth for a few years in the 90s and one summer it never hit 80F in the entire month of July.

Which was fine with me!

I cant remember a cool day in the last 2 weeks. I know everyone will think I'm crazy but I hate hot weather and know perfectly why I stay here.

I'm sure it happens, but I never saw it in the four years I lived there. And I lived on the fourth floor of a rather old apartment building that neither had air conditioning nor an elevator!

So I was sorta aware of high temperatures...

On the other hand, I lived most of that time below the hill, and the hotter temperatures in Duluth are up top.

Yep many times it will be comfortable down below the hill maybe mid 75F or so but over the hill will be like inside of a blast furnace

The average annual temperature in Minneapolis is 45 degrees. The cold weather is relative to what a visitor may be use to or where they are coming from. If a visitor would be previously living inside of a refrigerator, Minneapolis will likely seem warm to them. The rest of you should bring your puffy jackets.

-----annual average temperature---is about the most worthless statistic there is.

When researching places, I discount it cuz it is meaningless.

I agree totally. For instance Minneapolis Minnesota has an averave annual tempature of about 45.4 degrees. Flagstaff Arizona has an average annual tempature of about 49.5 degrees. Only a few degrees different.....but while Flagstaff has mild reasonably pleasant winters and mild comfortable summers, Minneapolis has hot, humid summers and bitterly cold winters.

It all depends on what you're looking for. Look at the normal minimum and maximum temps on at least a monthly level and even daily to decide if this fits your "comfort" zone.

The example I've always used to explain how "average" can be misleading is the following. Let's assume there are 10 homes on a street. 9 of them are worth $250,000.00 and one is worth $2,000,000.00. The "average" value of a house in that neighborhood is $425,000.00. So let's assume you've never been there and decide to relocate there since you current house is worth about $425,000.00 and that fits with your budget and quality of life. So you show up looking for real estate and find that there is absolutely nothing in your desired price range....how could this be ?

Well....it's obvious that "averages" are meaningless much of the time. Median is generally more accurate....but still not perfect.
