That would be right next to the Midtown/Lake St light rail station. For anyone familiar with the area there is almost constantly some shady looking people gathered around there (vagrants I assume). The city is beefing up security on the light rail and I suspect this is one of the “hot spots” they will be honing in on.

First thing I thought - who would be out there at that time of day in that location? No one acting with any sense of awareness. Yep, that would put anyone in danger. Now, they should yank out the fingernails of the perp in this case and we can call it a day.

Maybe it's just me but I think it's sad (revolting, really) that when I drive through my neighborhood in St. Paul and see a woman walking around late at night that I worry about her safety.

Again, the Cities were probably pretty damn safe prior to the massive demographic change. And frankly I think that's an unforgiveable crime against the citizens of the Cities.

Interesting. Must be a very dangerous neighborhood.

Sounds like one of the most dangerous places in the Twin Cities?

You mean the suble and continuous change in demographics, like every major city, ever, that has been going on for 30 years?

Imagine if the twin cities were like Phoenix and just annexed land instead of have 150 suburbs, I bet the crime stats would look way better. In most metros, Edina and St Louis park and white bear lake would be part of the actual city limits.

Yes.

Most people are ignorant of just how small Minneapolis is, in terms of size both absolute and relative to its metropolitan area. Phoenix has more than 9x the area of Minneapolis and 4x the population, which tells you how much of Phoenix proper is suburban compared to Minneapolis proper.

Minneapolis ranks 45th in terms of population in the United States. Only four cities with larger populations (San Francisco, Boston, Miami, Long Beach) are smaller in area, and only nine of cities #46 thru #100 are physically smaller.

The ignorant are also happy to remain ignorant when it happens to jibe with their agenda.

No one considers Minneapolis or St. Paul as a stand alone metro area. They are 16th in the USA metro rankings. When I was young they were 11th. Shrank a bit and other metros have grown. But it’s not realistic to think we are 45th.

“Many refer to the "Twin Cities" as the seven-county region which is governed under the Metropolitan Council regional governmental agency and planning organization. The United States Office of Management and Budget officially designates 15 counties as the "Minneapolis–St. Paul–Bloomington MN–WI Metropolitan Statistical Area", the 16th largest metropolitan statistical area with a population of according to 2020 census estimate.”
