My first thought was that it looked alright, probably just because of the lighting and stuff. But I just don't know. I think it's a tad unsightly.

Many of the new stadiums are ugly, but it is all about revenue and the "Dome Dog," is not going to get it done. Sports facilities have turned into state of the art entertainment venues with excellent food options and many new amenities such as in seat ordering, HD scoreboards, restaurants and shopping on the inside and outside of stadiums, etc. Rennovation would work if the Metrodome had at least some of these options, but the Metrodome is nothing more than an antiquated relic that will never host the big events again until it is re-built.

While many new stadiums are ugly, I think it would be wise for anyone constructing the new Vikings stadium to see what was done to Target Field. It is a truly magnificent looking building that will likely have a lasting look...it appears both classic and modern, which is a definite win.

As is the new football stadium at the U of MN. I think any new stadium nay sayers should attend an event there and then tell us that we don't need a new stadium...

Just asking, but why didn't the money for UM stadium get combined with money for a new Vikings stadium and have a shared use facility?

I would guess location, team branding, and game day experience.

If they shared it would most likely be covered in Vikings colors, logos, etc, and probably not located on the college campus.

The U of MN is technically a dry campus and beer sales were an issue....

Wasn't this discussed at some point? I believe it was and the Vikings weren't interested for whatever reason. Probably because they'd have to deal with the fact that it's near campus and a lot of parking and such would therefore belong to the University.

I agree that TCF is magnificent as well. It's a truly great experience, so I was sad to not be able to attend the games this past fall (despite the fact that the team sucked). If they could make a Vikings experience like what the Gophers now have, that would be great.

I've driven by TCF a number of times and it is a beauty. A national sportscaster (can't recall his name) said it's the best stadium in the country. I expect to get to a game for sure next year and of course when the Gophers get their "Winter Classic" I am there.
