I did go to a Popeye's on Aurora in Seattle Washington. There were some pretty scary looking dudes in that Popeye's. Not sure what they were eating. I went in to get some gumbo. I'm not sure if there's a siting pattern for Popeye's or Chick FilA. I do know that the KFC's in better neighborhoods seem doomed.

Went to all three companies to search on locations. Popeyes had one hit, Chick Fil A had 2, KFC had 9. So I guess in Minnesota, the Colonel still rules.

The current Lake Street Popeye's sucks. The franchise owner only accepts cash, charges extra for every little condiment, and never participates in national Popeye's promotions. I hope the owner of these new locations puts that one out of business and/or takes it over.
The food at Popeye's on Lake St. is always good, though. The franchise has been there a long time, and used to be owned by Dr Najarian, the UofM heart surgeon. People would kid that he owned the chicken place to drum up heart surgery business.

Not sure if true, but I was in the new Culver's on University Ave (Off Snelling) talking to someone about how good it is to see new places opening along the light rail line & that person said "You know they're opening a Popeye's up the street towards Dale St?". Perhaps it's just coincidence but a KFC sits on the corner of University & Dale?

Interesting. Could be a good location, like the one on Lake Street. By the way, I was in Highland Park and the closed KFC there changed to an Asian-specialty restaurant. There's a Leeann Chin about 2 blocks away. And a Vina a half block away. Indications that Asian sells in that neighborhood.

The old KFC in Maplewood on Beam Avenue just west of White Bear Avenue across from Maplewood Mall and the Crystal location on Bass Lake Road and West Broadway in the parking lot of Crystal Shopping Center have both closed.

Both former KFC's are having the brownish and yellow oudoor exterior put on them which looks a lot like the Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen locations. We will see what the future brings?

For a metro area the size of Minneapolis and St. Paul, we really do not have a wide variety of restaurant and retail shopping options. It is disappointing to see all the restaurants and retail stores which have moved into the Twin Cities then very quickly closed them all or only kept one location open often in a remote obscure area of the metro.

That is great news about the Chick-Fil-A locations at 153rd and Cedar Avenue near Cub Foods, Best Buy, Super Target, and the MVTA transit station in Apple Valley, the Fountains of Arbor Lakes location in Maple Grove and the Riverdale Commons location near the North Star Commuter Rail station in Coon Rapids . Keep us all posted with new and updated information.

I've gone to the Lake Street Popeyes a couple of times per year since moving here 4 years ago. I've never made a trip to KFC.

In light of how incredibly awful the service is at Lake Street - and that it's apparently privately owned so they really do not care, another Popeyes is a welcome treat.

Assuming there is some sort of irony here. I went to Popeye's on Lake Street, did not find anything incredibly awful. Mostly it isn't my favorite type of restaurant. I'd rather get a Reuben at Culver's or a turkey burger at Hardees.
