But no one wants to get murdered, robbed or shot either so bland it needs to be.

Mid-April around the country. Usually Easter weekend marks the end of the later spring breaks.

The issue of rowdy behavior at Spring Break and how Miami wants to deal with it is front page news on the NY Times today.

Excerpts:
"After two fatal shootings on Ocean Drive over a March weekend, Miami Beach leaders followed their recent playbook for dealing with raucous spring break crowds: a state of emergency, a midnight curfew and limited liquor sales.

Then, in a new and drastic step, the city commissioners announced a curfew for 2024, a full year in advance, and declared spring break on the sun-kissed streets of Miami Beach to be over.

“Miami Beach is shutting the door on spring break, once and for all,” Alex J. Fernandez, a city commissioner who sponsored a series of 2024 measures, said before the vote.

"...but businesses worry about crimping their most profitable tourism season."

What disappoints me is parts of the business community want to get fat selling booze to drunken kids, no matter the damage to their health or the mayhem it causes on the streets. Greed at this level is just plain obscene and does not reflect well on any city.

Ocean Drive needs to be redone. A beautiful strip of real estate next to the ocean full of tacky restaurants and bars. Seems unbelievable that better venues can't succeed on Ocean Drive.

They got smart and closed off Collins Rd on the beach to traffic. Is pedestrian only. It sucks eating dinner and breathing in noxious car exhaust.
