Just came across an article stating "Tourists vote Maine as one of the least friendly states in the country". My wife and I love your state. We have vacationed there many times and brought our adult children last winter and they loved it.

We had numerous encounters with residents from the coast inland. Every single encounter was fantastic. My wife loves hydrangea. They do not grow well in our region. We had stopped in front of a house on the way to Kennebunkport that had numerous hydrangea growing. The homeowner came out when they saw her taking pictures and struck up a conversation. As we were getting ready to leave the homeowner told us to hang on a minute.

He went to his porch and retrieved a clippers and proceeded to cut a beautiful bouquet to take with us.

Maine is our favorite place and due to family dynamics unfortunately we will never become permanent residents but due plan on buying some land to vacation at.

Does this mean there will be less Subarus driving 38 mph in 55 mph zones and brake checking every 500 feet?

When 2 million were visiting Acadia annually, the situation was more manageable imo. I hear that visitation for 2023 will exceed 4 million. I am sick of crowds, crowds, long lines, long lines, and traffic and more traffic.

"Tourists Vote Maine as One of the Least-Friendly States in the Country"

The chart in the article has Maine listed as #31 out of #50 States for friendliest. There is a top 10 friendliest so it only makes sense that the bottom 10 are the least friendly. Maine is #31 and not in the bottom 10.

NY is #50. I moved from outer borough NYC to Maine. It is like night and day in terms of friendliness.

It's gonna get even more unfriendlier unless those from away with money, opinions and dogs crowding the trails go somewhere else to vacation.
