Depends what you define as “better”. You don’t think that if enough Chinese move into a town, the schools won’t become academically better?

Not lately. Not all Chinese or Asian kids are the same because their parents arent the same. Big difference between a kid with Doctor parents in Syosset who can afford tutors and a kid whose parents work in a restaurant in Hicksville who are barely getting by.

I’m in Brooklyn. My experience says otherwise.

Good for your experience, but you want to move to LI. Here the tiger mom pushing her kid has been replaced by tired old Grandma raising the kid and being pushed around by the kid.

Of course there are still stand out Chinese students, but it isnt as if they are all well behaved Einsteins.

Well said. Asians are like any other humans they have their average intelligence and idiots too like any other group. Also just because some higher intelligence kids are added to the schools doesn’t mean the schools become “better” that’s nonsense.

The higher the Chinese/Asian percentage in a school district, the better it is in NYC and LI. This isn't even debatable. It's like it used to be with (secular) Jews before most of their kids ran away from NY.

Adding higher intelligence kids to schools makes schools better. Just like adding engaged parents (who value education) makes schools better. This isn't complicated and we have plenty of proof of this all across NYC and LI.

Newsflash. LI isn’t NYC. Most of NYC schools literally have nowhere to go but up. And what do you even define as “better” the scores inflate because the kids are supposedly more intelligent? So what? That dosent make the teachers magically “better”, the instruction “better” the services “ “better”.

Engaged parents is the answer you are looking for no matter what the ethnicity of the child and that engagement has plummeted since Covid.

True. But…if your kid is as dumb as a box of rocks ain’t no school or engaged parents gonna fix that.
And now, with all the sensitive feely no kid left behind crap we’re releasing millions of complete morons onto the streets. Which in itself is stupid because you are actually hurting the kid in the big picture.
