I don't know what kind of monuments you were talking about, but there was only ever one Union soldier statue in a Kentucky county courthouse lawn, and that was in Lewis County. It is the only union statue south of the Mason-Dixon line. Still, there were many more Union soldiers from Kentucky than confederate soldiers.

Also, I've always heard that confederate raider John Morgan actually rode a fillie, but that those who put up his statue in Lexington gave his steed some, uh, you-know, masculine parts. Anyone in Lexington want to check that one out?

I'm a KY to Fairbanks transplant as well and its too bad they can't inact this law in Fbks because some of those cabin dwellers could use a yearly bath. They get pretty funky in the winter time

At least this isn't like Alabama where I hear they are the most overweight of all the states. Only fat smells bad. I think a slimmer person has hardly any smell.

Maybe so but Union soldiers were not very well respected after the war.

in my home town in kentucky, some of the old downtown homes from the civil war have those historical plaques on them that tell how they hid confederate soldiers when the union troops were in town.
