Told ya. Whether you agree with his agenda or not, JB is getting things done...

Yep weed and sports gambling. Now our moral decay can match our fiscal decay.

I would rather the "leaders" and "representatives" do nothing than produce a lot of the legislation that I am reading about in the Tribune tonight.

Appears even a Democrat Gov cannot get anything done in Illinois.
Some death spiral.

The $15 minimum wage passed, Illinois has become the only state to legalize weed via its legislature, the graduated income tax passed the legislature and is going to the 2020 state ballot, and Illinois will now have one of the most liberal and protected abortion laws. Oh, and the budget passed with bipartisan support. JB is delivering on his campaign promises left and right at this point.

Just to be clear. With regard to the tax rates, they are not tax BRACKETS. If you make over $250k, you will pay over 7% on 100% of your income.

That's incorrect. What you're describing is only for earners at the 7.99% level making $750,000 or more as a single filer or one million or more as a couple filing jointly. Every other level is based on your income above the different brackets.

Can you provide a source for this?

This is from NBC Chicago:

Quote:
For single and joint filers earning less than $250,000 per year, the first $10,000 would be taxed at 4.75%, then income between that and $100,000 would be taxed at 4.9%. From there, up to $250,000, the rate would be 4.95%, where it stands today.

Above $250,000, the rates begin to differ for single and joint filers. For single filers from $250,000 to $350,000, and for joint filers up to $500,000, the rate would be 7.75%. That increases to 7.85% for single filers reporting between $350,000 and $750,000 in income, and for joint filers from $500,000 to $1 million.

Under the Senate-passed plan, single filers earning more than $750,000 and joint filers earning more than $1 million would be taxed at the top rate of 7.99%. For only that highest bracket, the taxpayers’ net income would all be taxed at that top rate, unlike the rest of the brackets.

Earlier this week the 7.99% top tax rate plan passed. As the article points out though, this could be changed before it makes the ballot in 2020, but this is where things are now.

Additionally, the sports gambling bill along with a casino for the city of Chicago is before the Senate today.

too bad the scumbags in Springfield didnt have the guts to put a pension reform initiative on the ballot in 2020 as well..the ongoing mindset with these morons is tax and spend solves all problems, never reduce spending so the poor taxpayers might actually get a break, and maybe do something to stop the mass Exodus out of Illinois..
