The furnace was set up to circulate and purge air outside, pulling in fresh air through the "cracks". The home was pretty tight so this created vacuum in the house. The way the furnace was routed pulled more smoke down the chimney when the front door was opened. The fix was to change the thermostat to one that ran the fan on time intervals and leave a window cracked.
8" pipe is likely too big as well, have had several wood stoves sized to 2200 sq/ft and all were 6" pipes.
Nope, the furnace fan has a manual control. I use it all summer instead of A/C, to push cold air up out of the basement. Anyway unless the furnace is running, or it's set to manual, the fan is off. And the house sure as heck does not need woodstove AND furnace running!

This house is pretty tight but even front door wide open didn't help. I swear it made more smoke come into the room.

Yeah, I don't understand the 8" pipe. First one I'd seen. Probably some EPA thing.

Got greeted with some beautiful snow up here in north bench. Was supposed to be rain! Still snowing now but temps will be high enough to melt it shortly. There's about 2~3" of accumulation up here at ~2,400ft.

Just rain down here on the Rathdrum Prairie. We're at 2,200 ft. Too "warm" to snow.

Well it's been raining now for a few hours and the snow is still around even with temps hovering 34~35 degrees. At least there is no ice!

The wild turkeys seem to be moving around en masse. I've seen as many as 20 of them running across the road.

They won't destroy your car if you hit one like a deer will, but still, some of them are pretty hefty. Just something else to be watchful for when driving.

I like seeing them wandering around but really hate to see one smashed dead in the road. It's dark early and they are dark and hard to see in low light.

Why did the turkey cross the road?

So the turkey can become roadkill for Thanksgiving?

Happy Thanksgiving, Porchers and Lurkers! NID seems to be having a beautiful, calm evening (as per the webcam on Gold Hill in Sandpoint), but Eastern Idaho is apparently dealing with a snow storm! Be safe!
