26.2 here in Tigerville. Buh-bye summer garden! I spent Tuesday shutting off water spigots and draining hoses.

I think I'll regret putting off that task here. Too much rationalization that "the ground is still warm", "not predicted to get that cold", etc.

El Nino could bring us an active winter. Above average snow forecast. Time will tell.

The snow lovers must not have a job, and can sit at home, OR they will complain the loudest when they lose power. I dispise anything that falls from the sky frozen and isnt gone in a few hours. I have been stuck in that crap for 7 hours and I can assure you it wasnt pleasant. I despise even more the hype built up around it.

Thing is.. where we are usually winds up with less than anywhere else.

unless we get one of those storms that comes up from the south.. Rare, but when that happens we wind up with MORE than other people for some odd reason.

Where I am in Gray Court, at least, all the power is pretty much be underground.. So.. No real concerns with the power going out unless it's major damage to the distribution lines. Outside of losing power for a couple of hours last year or year before during a thunderstorm.. I rarely lose power long enough to run my UPSes out. And they only last about 30 minutes.

I enjoy a snow day here and there. Makes for a very peaceful drive into work because no one goes in those days.

It's the NEXT day that ticks me off.. All the asshats that go out on the interstate without clearing the roof of their cars and you see the huge sheet of ice lift off and it's like a scene from one of those volcano disaster movies.. Where you wait for it to start coming back down and then figure out which way to run.

Have to admit.. I do feel bad for kids nowadays.. I think post-COVID.. The snow day from school is a thing of the past.

Its mostly above ground on my side, with the exception to a few hundred yards closer to 101 where it Duke Power. They are out more than I am, go figure. Usually when my power goes out, it right up the road, LEC comes out, does something there and Im back on. Thanks to the wonderful contractors they hire to trim the trees and make the whole place look like ****, we dont have many problems with outages.
