I was going to ask if this a joke question! Ft. Lauderdale? You have nothing to worry about and people won't even bat an eye seeing a interracial couple together since it's not out the norm in south Florida. I would be more concerned if you were moving to Alabama!

As to a certain poster from "Arlando" you should see his rants about Puerto Ricans and their "Reggaeton" music messing up his neighborhood in Orlando!

Central Florida has some racist tendencies? ive only been around the windermere area and disney areas so i dont really know. Im curious since im looking at Orlando real estate properties

The best place to ask this is probably on the Orlando board. They would be more helpful overall in determining if this is a true impression or just a biased reputation.

I think it's way too much to assume Orlando would be more racist than some small town in Ohio. There is quite a bit more carribean migration - particularly a lot of Puerto Ricans and Dominicans and such - who are basically black, white and a mix of every color imbetween.

So, for the OP coming from OHIO...or was it rural ILLINOIS or whever it is from...if he/she goes down to either Orlando or Southern Florida...it will be significantly different - in a more positive way.

I know posters in Florida complain about everything you can imagine. But when you visit these areas of FL (Orlando/So FLorida), you just see a much broader larger spectrum of skin colors, as opposed to IL/OH where it is pretty much black or white with very little imbetween whatsoever.

Where the OP might have a problem though is assuming white people in Fort Lauderdale are both racist and redneck...that's basically a racist statement, and if has beliefs/thoughts like that to begin with...might account for the reason that he/she is having problems in IL/OH or wherever he/she is from.
