Davie is fine...like any other community. I lived and operated a business in East Davie for 5 years. Anyone who hates diversity moved to Tennessee a long time ago. My neighbors were black, Jewish, Cuban and Italian.

Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention my gay neighbors as well - trust me, I would have heard about it had they experienced any discrimination.

Agreed. Anywhere but Davie for an interracial couple.

You need to get out of Miami and see how others act. Not everyone who wants to know about you or tries to talk to you is doing so to stab you in the back. Man it's sad when people live in certain places where rude is the norm, and cant even believe that some folks out there genuinely care how others are doing.

This is an unfair and frankly ignorant comment

OP: you won't have a problem here. South Florida is very diverse.

I'm from central Illinois, a town with less than 1,000 people. There isn't violence, but only 3 black people live in my area and no other races besides white.

I do understand that "wherever you go, there will be some racism," but I'd like to be around more interracial couples, in a more diverse area, and I want to move somewhere warm. I've always loved Florida, but yet I haven't stayed there for more than a few weeks.

What are your opinions on Ft. Lauderdale? I've heard some bad things about the deep south but that Florida is different, etc. Do you know of any places in Florida where there aren't acts of violence against blacks/interracials/etc. and where there isn't a lot of segregation? Feedback? Thanks!
I will say IL will be much much much worse. Black/white issues throughout the midwest is pretty sad and messed up. It's always refreshing when I head southward, and it appears less and less strained and much less tension.

It's going to happen everywhere you go, my gf is one that would probably mutter something under her breathe while I would think nothing of it. Witht hat being said as others mentioned you should not have any issues.
