No family to help either one of you? I don't know of any scenario where you'd be able to work for room and board, unless you post on a local forum where you are and explain your situation. Some kind soul may offer you a solution or at least a place to stay.

If this post is real, I'd agree with the one suggestion about going to a shelter.

Also, what about filing a police report? sometimes, as the victim of a crime, you can apply for a disbursement of some type. Long shot, but worth a try. and it would probably take time.

Find whatever job you can to quickly save up your lost funds as quickly as you can and learn a lesson from this experience.
They might have left hometown USA with 5K but that could get "blown" in a weekend if drugs/booze/gambling are involved.

I've never left any significant money in a car. I've had 2-3K in my pocket but never in a car.

If not, they already have a place to sleep. Now a Planet Fitness membership for showers and jobs.

Forward ever!
Planet Fitness probably wants a checking account to debit or a credit card. I'd bet they don't want cash payments monthly.

Good people who happened to be in a jam due to unforeseen circumstances could apply for job at campsites - they could stay there or storage facilities - some provide an accommodation.

It's easy to sit on the sidelines all holier than thou (especially on the internet) but do try to exercise some humane compassion.

A lot of elderly landlords will rent to you if you offer to do some upkeep of the property in exchange for discounted rent.

Don't rent from anyone who won't sign a lease though.

No, I sure wouldn't without checking references, police records and getting solid background info from their hometown...if they're "clean" I might consider it...

Ok, Yes sure but every single landlord wants 35 or 40x the rent to rent from them in Florida. Bonafide recent and past paystubs to prove stability and income. Also excellent credit, also $ in bank. They will always ask for all of the above and more. **** This issue comes about when housing is tight and landlords don't need you, nor me. They have waiting lists, especially in Florida. Why would they 100% not accept only the very best on paper tenants. Supply , demand. Until Florida and the USA has more empty homes, than less, probably gonna get worse. Either the problem has to correct or people will leave Florida, or even the USA.

Next time keep the money in the bank. I agree with those who say just take any job you can for now, & start saving again. The campsite suggestion above was a good one.

I'm assuming either:
1) they are irresponsible and not trustworthy
or
2) the post is a fake.
I'm going with B, Bob.
