10 Years Later, Wilma Still the Last Hurricane to Hit Florida

If the drought continues through the end of 2015, it will mark 10 full hurricane seasons without a hurricane in Florida – doubling the previous record of five seasons from 1980 through 1984.

Wilma was also the last major hurricane to strike the U.S.

I remember not getting jack thru the 70's and only one storm in Sept of 1985 and nothing until 2004 when i got action from the two State crossing storms in Sept of 04 when i just moved from Tampa to the gulf.

I got more wind from the no name storm than any cane.

Grouper fishing was super good after the storm with the muddy water offshore. I got nothing from Andrew but one band with gust to 40mph.

In 2005 South Florida was hit by 4 hurricanes. May not have been major, but we were definitely affected. I remember all the clean-ups at Fairchild. The first one hit the night before our Mango Festival. The last one hit the very end of October. I don't remember the dates for the middle two storms. This year, 2005, was also the November that the first Chihuly exhibit was installed at Fairchild. I think Wilma was the name of the last storm in 2005. Katrina was in there as well. As I said, none of these storms were major ones, but still some damage. My poor Jaboticaba tree was wacked back to about two feet.
