His approval rating in Florida is good, but a few Floridians within his campaign are sabotaging it.

Is that really fair? He had a population shift happen in his state with GOP coming from more liberal states. That is why there was such a change. To give Ron credit for it is a laugh.

Yes it is fair. Many if not most of the population shift has been in the past few years specifically BECAUSE of him and the way he has handled things in Florida. Kudos to Ron DeSantis, one of the best governors this state has ever seen; and I am a 74 y.o. native.

Most sane people don't uproot their lives and move to a whole other state just because some guy who's only going to be the Governor for 4 years, is governor.

So unless you want to peg the entirety of the GOP who moved to Florida as "insane," maybe - that's not why they moved to Florida.

If Florida was some liberal hell hole....conservatives would not have moved here

...and made Florida majority republican for the first time in history

you can think they didn't move here ”because”

...but they certainly did not ”not” move here ”because”

Ron DeSantis Is All In—on Creating an American Autocracy
DeSantis is not a backslapping politician. He has few social graces and no appetite for socializing, preferring, his staff claims, to spend his “non-office time” with family. As his one-way relationship with the legislature shows, he extracts favors but rarely returns them. “Most politicians, you gain respect from your colleagues and your peers by working with them, by not being a jerk, by having good conversations and good relationships,” says Fried, who now chairs Florida’s Democratic Party. “He cannot do that. So the only way that he’s going to be able to move his agenda is through fear and intimidation.”

I don't think it is he is not likeable but that he is somewhat boring or non charismatic. My pick is Nikki Haley. She is very charismatic, she was a good governor and I think she could win against Biden. I like Ron DeSantis but I want him to continue in Florida. I think what the diehard dems don't like is that Ron DeSantis is Trump without all the ridiculousness. The cool aid democrats believe whatever their media tells them and they tell them he is the devil incarnate.

What I don't get though is the Republican voters. I may be wrong (and Kennedy might be the key) but I don't think Trump can win. I do understand that voters think he is getting the shaft but even if it all the legal stuff went away Trump is just not likeable to many voters. Instead they should be geared towards winning the election and voting for the person they think would garner the most independent and Democratic votes as opposed to voting for Joe Biden.

That said whoever is the republican nominee will get my vote. What is worse than Joe is the fear that Kamala Harris will be president should Joe have to step down.

The democrats are good at what they do and that is gaslighting and pushing that republicans are racist evil humans. The republicans are very bad at that. They constantly infight (look at choosing a new speaker never mind voting the one they had out) instead of surrounding the ship. Look at the democrats and the squad. While I am sure they are all cringing at what they do and say, they stand by them or they shut up.

Frankly, I am not having much prospect for the future of this country. I think too much damage has been done and I blame Trump for that. He is the only one who could have lost to Joe Biden. His personality isn't cut out for politics. You can't bully your way through.

DeSantis looked really awkward when he remembered to smile during the first debate this year, but the OP certainly could have looked for a less biased source than Mother Jones to say bad things about him.

The legislature changed the law bc they think he’s doing a good job and wanted to make it so he can continue that during his prez campaign. Big whoop. I would feel the same if it was a Dem doing it. No need to upset the state’s political structure if someone wants to seek national office.

Ron DeSantis’s Ousting of Elected Official Sets a Dangerous Precedent

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is undermining voting rights by removing elected officials to replace them with his allies.

Maybe, if he isn't in prison. If he is, maybe he can rule from his prison cell, like Warren Jeffs.

Dems oust elected officials too....Rod Blagovic, Trump impeachments, Bob Menendez (work in process), just to name a few.

When an elected officials publicly refuses to carry out the duties of their job, or to enforce the law, then the public has the right for that elected official to be removed.

I'm pretty sure the courts backed DeSantis up on that too.

That makes DesSantis more likeable, not less likeable...to Floridians anyways.

Most people like when elected officials are held accountable.
