Census has the best data on this - this is from 2020 - top 50 origins for people moving to Orange County by number of people. Remember that people also leave the area. I'll post the net in a separate post.

Anyway, most people are moving here from somewhere else in Florida or from the Caribbean/Central/South America. That, "everyone is from NY" is nonsense.

Here's the same but for people moving to Seminole County. Again, this is just people moving in. A lot of people (Americans) move here for a few years and then go back to where they came from so this doesn't show the people who have left.

From a personal note... my two kids who live elsewhere are moving back to Florida. One from California and the other (trying) from Utah. My other two children already live and work in Florida. One a broader note, folks from PA ....seems I've met more from there recently.

My living locations are so completely opposite in Florida. I have a home on acreage western part of my county (Martin) and is extremely rural and my other place is a condo on a barrier island. In the rural area the influx of residents are mostly from central America, but previously it was Mexico. Most Mexicans have moved closer to work (construction) on the coast and most of the central Americans work in agriculture, and have taken the work formerly done by Mexican farm labor.

Hard to tell these days where people are from.

I've read that most are coming from Texas and New York and the average age is on the young side, 25 to 45.

Also, getting nice coffee shops such as Haan Coffee, ice cream shops like Sampaguita, tea shops like Matcha Maiko.

I moved from San Francisco and considered myself a bit of a foodie. Always trying new restaurants or hidden gems I never seen.

My daughter is having her car transported and her personal things shipped. She sold all her belongings like furniture, etc. My son on the other hand has a class A licensee and owns a semi (diesel truck), although he's an Air Traffic Controller. (ATC). He plans on moving himself.

It’s not elderly, anymore. They can’t afford it here.
As of the 2020 Census, median age in:

Dade = 40.1

Broward = 40.8

Palm Beach = 45

USA = 38

As I posted, those moving to FLA skew older than the USA median, due to so many retirees.

I was speaking statewide, not just SEC FLA...although even SE FLA is older than the median USA.

Immigrants also push the median age downward, and there are more of them in SE Florida than the rest of the state.

Middle class retirees do not move to SE FLA as much due to cost of living (housing), they move elsewhere in FLA...The Villages for instance.

SW FLA is much older than SE FLA, and cheaper to live...for now, but its trending upward rapidly.

Who knows why they go to Tampa, it seems to be like a strange magnet for a larger chunk of the blue collar crowd from those metros.
