To say “Florida” and “drought” in the same breath is astonishing to me.

people don't realize how large Florida is....and the shape.....very long and narrow....from latitude 24.5 to 31

...and plant hardiness zones from 11 to 8

you can have drought in one place.....and flood in another....all at the same time

Happens all the time bra. Getting worse as the years go on. My part of FL always gets the least amount of rain since we stay in a west flow most of the summer while 2 to 50 miles inland get much more rain.

It's been bizarre for sure... Over the weekend, Brooker Creek was on fire and stunk up/clouded up all of Palm Harbor and East Lake.
Ponds are literally all dried up now, where typically they'd be teeming with wildlife.

Record dry weather for this area by far. This week we are in a west flow so all rain will be far inland toward the east coast. I hate a west flow blowing off of nasty gulf water temps in around 84f to 91f all day and nite/

We need a east flow to bring us rain in the summer later in the day.

Soon the Alligators will be moving into swimming pools. Our ponds are all very low, so their habitat is shrinking rapidly. I hardly ever see the Osprey fishing in our pond anymore...probably too shallow, & not many fish left.

And it's been hot and dry as all hell. I just came from my "lunch walk," and it was awful. I don't mind the high temps -- the dryness absolutely gets to me though.

It rained hard in SW Miami today, about 2-4pm. Looks like it's going to start raining again.

This is nothing like May 1995 when on the 7th we had a run of upper 90's for days my man. Tampa saw 97-98 day after day. I just came off a 3 day trip fishing 40 miles from the Fort in the keys and it was bad offshore and not much was biting but a mutton snap here and there.
