I hope this link doesn’t take you to a firewall. I do not have a subscription to the NYT but I was able to read the article about the end of COVID. The article states that one metric used to measure the impact of COVID is “excess deaths.” The total number of Americans dying each day — from any cause — is no longer historically abnormal.

The article also quotes a doctor that says COVID should no longer mean a death sentence to anyone, even the weaker amongst us, due to Paxlovid and other treatments. Also, many of us have some degree of immunity due to having caught COVID or having gotten one or more vaccines.

Anyway, the title of the article is A Positive COVID Milestone and just came out this morning.

Being careful shows intelligence, ignoring the issue does the opposite.

Now is it as serious as it first was, no, so people can do a great deal. However being careful is wise to avoid hurting others. Now the death rate has dropped significantly, but people are still dying, so why not show compassion and care?

235 people in FL have died in the last 2 weeks.
