Since many of Florida's roads do not have shoulders, law enforcement and emergency personel work in dangerous conditions when responding to accidents; stopping, parking and working wherever they can, or in the middle of the road if necessary.

[quote=Muggy;201725]These are giant sandbags on St. Pete Beach that keep the beach from washing away (sort of).

Let me ask you - Do you have real Christmas trees in Florida? On Long Island there used to be a program to bring your Christmas trees to the beach after the holiday to help shore op the dunes.

Default The Worst of Florida

Besides the things already mentioned? How about constant traffric jams, no matter what time of day. Constant construction - roads, houses, buildings. It's always dirty and construction debris falls off of dump trucks on your nice shiny car. Schools are crowded and in spite of the huge budgets, the kids don't seem to be learning much. House prices ran up ridiculously high over the last 2 years, now they are dropping and people can't sell that want to move without taking a big financial hit. Forget affordable healthcare, job benefits like paid holidays, etc. Property taxes and homeowners insurance are thru the roof. Forget going to the beach -- red tide and dead fish have kept us away all summer and fall. FL is basically made up of very rich in gated communities, working types that are 1 paycheck from disaster and a lot of poor illegals. You get nice wealther for 3 or 4 months (less the cold fronts that knock the temps down for days at a time) in the winter. If that does it for you, then go for it. Otherwise, I'd find someplace else to live.

20 year FL resident that's had enough

I have a couple of requests:

1. Does anyone have a photo of a house being tented? I had never heard of this before I moved to Florida; truly a circus-horror sight to behold. It always reminds me of "Killer Clowns From Outer Space!"

2. Does anyone know which intersection in St. Pete has a gas station with that huge "PEPPER SPRAY $4.99!!! MACE $3.99!!!" sign out front? I was lost one night and drove by but I didn't have my camera. I'd love to get a photo of that.

3. Anyone have any photos of old junkers on the highway that basically look like they're on fire (becuase they spew so much exhaust)?

4. Also, truckticles. Anyone? I think all of the truckticle-having contractors have split town.

5. Red Tide photos...

One more thing: which intersection do you think is the largest in terms of lanes in Pinellas County? I'd like to place my tripod in the center at night and composite a 360 photo.

Park and 66th St. N is the largest I've encountered (combined total: 32 lanes)

What about McMullen Booth & Curlew. I'm seeing maybe 36?

Interesting question.
