Florida, is one of those states that people love to escape to especially when the temps drop in other parts of the world. We also get our share of negative press. Some almost love to hate on Florida. Every time, I go away whether its US or abroad, people always say I am so lucky to live in Florida. Sometimes, I agree, other times (especially mid summer) i might not agree.

Anyway, lets share some of our favorite spots we like to go spend a few hours or the day, loving the fact we live in a such a clean, and beautiful place.

I had a nice experience a few days ago riding my bike around the neighborhoods of South Beach, along the beach and over the causeway. Amazing experience.

Like anywhere, Florida has it's pros and cons. The pros outweigh the cons for us right now and there are certainly worse places to plant your root.

As for haters, it's the internet and some people have nothing better to do than spend time on a forum for a place they hate.

We love Disney. We love our home and my wife loves her job and where she works. Her family is here and all that combined means so are we.

As much as I want to "love" Florida, there are sights that bother me and I wished they'd have done a better job in planning. Eyesores everywhere - here US 19, Clearwater.

One of my favorite things about living in Florida is waking up to sunshine, blue skies, warmth, flowering plants, and the natural beauty. Yes, it gets hot in the summer, but I'll take that over months of snow, gray, and cold any time.

We've lived in a few other States (Pa, NC, Ca) but we love it here in SW Florida. At first, we lived in the Orlando area, and every year we would come to Sanibel for our anniversary. We fell in love with this area (Ft Myers) and moved here in 85.

Many times, when we were out on our boat, we would comment how some people come here for a week or two vacation, but how we actually get to live here year round. I find the people to be generally very friendly, and you could not ask for better weather...........especially in January and February, when the rest of the country is cold and snowy. I remember all too well those times up north, where the Summer was 3 months long and then it started to get cold for the next 9 months (or at least not nice and warm).

Yep, we love it here and will never move.

Yesterday morning, under 10 minute walk from my house I saw:

6 dolphins within close enough range to hear them 'talking' and swooshing thru their blow-holes
4 rays swimming in formation
tons of:
egrets, ibises and wild parrots

Yesterday evening we walked (8 minutes) to a great dinner on Pia's Trattoria patio.

Life is great here.

And the poster of the photo said "eyesores everywhere" but the photo is of a very specific busy corridor. "Everywhere"? I am pretty sure most of Florida is not paved. Every state has busy spots like that.
