I think the general consensus is that older women shouldn't wear them because they're no longer 'sex objects' or 'sexy' enough. If younger women wear them, an older woman with nice legs should be able to too! The underlying message is that only young women's bodies are truly sexualised. That's why it's not 'acceptable' for older women and men to wear short shorts.
Even among children as young as 7 I notice the girls all wear shorts much shorter than boys. When I was a young'un we all wore shortish shorts, but not the type you see a lot of girls wearing these days. I think it says something about gender expectations, women are expected to show more flesh.
I'm in my late 20's and I still wear short shorts as in daisy dukes, but I have the body for it. Is it ok that I still dress like that. When should women stop wearing things like this.
I think anyone can wear them if its hot enough outside (90+). Personally i wont wear them unless ive dropped down in weight but if others want to wear them im fine with it.
It's true that people can wear whatever they want but that won't stop other people from thinking, UGH, why is that old lady wearing short shorts? Can you picture a 70 year old wearing these?

I think there is no age limit but it depends on the woman herself and being tasteful at the same time if she is planning on going out in public in shorts.
Personally I've never liked short shorts because I don't feel comfortable wearing them. However, I don't really care if other women love wearing them. If they're 50 and they have the body for it, then why not? If you don't like it, don't look. It's her business, not yours.
