Given her age, it is probably a minor strain for which the treatment is a mild pain reliever and rest. However, as others have stated it could be anything from a muscle strain to cancer. Bone cancers often present as a persistent limp but usually in dogs that are much older.
Hopefully since she is Cur/mix (and a cutie), her off/on limp won’t end up being what my Rottweiler’s was - cancer. Freyja was the fourth Rottweiler I have lost to cancer in my lifetime.
My Catahoula/Pit Bull is coming 11. Hopefully you have that longevity to look forward to with HairyIt
Are you taking her to Cascade or All Creatures? Either one is good, IMO.
Two years ago my shih tzu started to limp on its front paw.. I thought he had stood on something and checked but nothing then I noticed his leg was going away from him when walking... another woman out with her dog noticed this and suggested I try youmove tablets.... I bought them and in three days the limp had gone... and has never came back.... I had phoned the vet for an app after him limping for about ten days ... so had to cancel... It might be completely different but Id give it a chance...
My chihuahua mix also limps from time-to-time. She had a vet appointment for something else, and I just happed to mention it to the vet. The vet felt her leg, and said it was luxating patella, was very common in her breed, and nothing to worry about unless she started doing it constantly.
I just got back from the Vet. She has an ACL tear and what we are doing is 2 weeks of crate confinement with pain pills. Then we will see if she is better. If not then surgery to repair. I am one of those disgusting dog owners who allow the dogs on my bed. I think she might have torn it by landing wrong jumping off. I am going to remove my bed frame and box spring tomorrow so it isn't as far of a jump. (I will keep her crated for the full two weeks though)

It's a very common injury. Partial tears can and do heal but it takes longer than you might think. You do NOT want her to keep re-injuring it! There are steps and/or ramps you can buy or build as a safer alternative to jumping on/off your bed.

I'm wondering if I can get her to use the stairs. I found a mattress support thing on Amazon that is 1.6 inches tall that replaces the bed frame and box spring. That will lower the total height of the bed to 10 inches total from the current 28 inches.
