Boston Terrier. Very people oriented (they'll bond to anybody), quite smart, and are quite entertaining.
Unfortunately, the "breeders" have sort of messed them up in the past 10+ years or so (difficult to find one with the proper conformation anymore - I suspect this occurred in the process of coming up with smaller ones, or more recently, breeders who seem to want to make them look like pit bulls - and in so doing have messed up their looks).

Or veering away from breeding to the standard and coming up w/ new colors (red, blue etc), it's a shame that so many breeders do that (not only BT breeders). More testing and screening needs to be done too, sadly some of them are deaf (not necessarily the mismarked ones w/ a lot of white on their heads). Overall it's a lovely breed though (not necessarily my favorite but up there w/ some others, not to mention the sweet mixes out there too)

That's a shame about what the breeders have done. Often they will breed OUT the intelligence or other personality traits to get some physical trait.
I love Pomeranians and am on my second one. They are just the right size, they have cute little fox faces, they are intelligent and love to do tricks and to play, they are no trouble at all, and they are quiet. Also they LOVE to snuggle. Mine has a big bark if someone comes to the door, which is good. Otherwise he's quiet as a mouse.
The mini schnauzer: a smart dog but loves to bark. It's like having a little person, which is good and bad at the same time, lol. I like that they don't shed, a good size for my needs and keeps me on my toes.

One of my Poms loved to do tricks and he was very easy to teach. They do seem to be natural comics...one of his tricks was sneeze on command with his paw over his snout. Poms are long lived dogs, too, which is a big plus. Alex looked puppy like until his mid teens. He lived to be nearly 19.
I am currently fostering a Papillon which reminds me quite a bit of my old Pom. She is an EXCELLENT watch dog. Goodness, I did not realize how nice that is to have around.
