Quite a few I know either live in Golden Valley, SoHi or Kingman and do the commute thing as a option.

Thumbs down Hate the weather!

If you like 7 month's of summer then Bullhead City is for you. The heat here is horrendous. If you like rain, then this isn't the place for you either. Average rainfall is about 4 in. Starting about the end if April, the heat starts and gets more intense into May- at that time you will be running your air conditioning 24/7 until about the end of September/October. It doesn't cool down at night in this area during these summer month's. It's not unusual for the temp to be 105-110 at night. It's like living in an oven. Unless you like the river and lake, you better get a home with a pool or you will be miserable. The heat makes it impossible to do anything outside unless it involves being in water. The town itself is ugly- there really is no downtown- just strip malls and the town has gotten so run down and there's alot of crime for such a small town. There are nice area's but alot of the older parts of town are really ghetto looking. The cost of living is inexpensive, but for me- the heat is the biggest negative factor. And the wind! During the "winter" you will get alot of extremely windy days. This is because most of the Pacific winter storms pass to the north of this area so all you get is the wind from the passing system, no rain. It's very frustrating because you want the rain so badly and you rarely get it. There are not alot of shopping options either. The grocery stores are not the greatest. [mod cut-- consumer complaints not permitted] The traffic- especially in winter with all the snowbirds- is horrendous too. Too many people and not enough roads. Tons of accidents all the time. And the job market is poor unless you are in the medical field. The casino's used to be great places to work back in the '90's but they've done away with so many of the position's. Poor pay too. I've lived here 20 plus year's and I'm outta here!

I love Bullhead City. We've owned a vacation home there for the last 10 years and have been there often and at all times of the year. Yes, the Summers are hot, but with A/C homes, cars and at the places you shop or dine, it's really no big deal at all. The rest of the year is fine and even very cold to very cold in the fall and winter. Spring is mild and beautiful. Bullhead has really had growth and a lot of big name shopping and dining have come in. The traffic isn't a big deal. The only wait time is going across the bridge to Laughlin at the peak hours. The weather and location is just beautiful with the mountains, lake and Colorado river.

We also love how safe the city feels, too. We have a vacation home in Las Vegas and love Vegas, but there is high crime in 70% of the city. Bullhead feels nice, safe and a sense of community. The locals are friendly and I wish we could live there full time. We live in California because of careers. You probably will love living there. We are in our 40's, too. The place isn't all retired people at all. A lot of our neighbors are our age or younger. Good luck!

I can tell you have never been there. I would suggest a visit before you consider a job. You will be in for a shock.

Don't kid yourself about low crime in Bullhead City. It's pretty bad for such a small town. Just read the police report in the Mohave daily news everyday.

Work in Bullhead but do not live there. I would go across the river because it is more peaceful and no offense Bullhead City kinda just sucks so unless you want to go to casinos move somewhere like Golden Valley or Payson it is even cooler there

My family and I moved here from Michigan in May. Not sure what you are comparing it to but the crime, weather, job outlook, traffic, roads, etc. are all worse in Michigan. BHC is certainly not Malibu but there are some nice areas along the Parkway to live. This a 60 sq mi city and there are plenty of diverse places to find a house. It is certainly not as "horrible" as some make it out to be. The nights are beautiful with clear sight to Laughlin, the sky lights up.

Sorry Sneal46, but almost everything is worse in Michigan as compared to almost anywhere else right now.

I was looking at the Crime Stats with Flint and Detroit at the top in the nation again. When I saw the unemployment figures I was in Shock.

You just can't use Michigan as a yardstick for anywhere right now.

I really would like to know why the OP would think it was his new Nirvana if he has never been there. I must be missing something.
