Remarks: BIRD ACTIVITY WAS REPORTED ON ATIS, ALTHOUGH NO BIRDS WERE PRESENT IN THE VICINITY OF OUR PROJECTED T/O PATH. AIRPORT WAS VERY BUSY WITH ARRIVALS ON RWY 32 AND DEPARTURES ON 04. BIRD WAS NOT OBSERVED TO BE SITTING ON THE RUNWAY INTERSECTIONS UNTIL IT BECAME AIRBORNE, AS A/C APPROACHED IT WITHIN 100 FEET. BIRD WAS BROWN, FLEW VERY SLOWLY AND USUALLY CLOSE TO WATER. BIRD IN QUESTION WAS SITTING 2/3 OF THE WAY DOWN THE RUNWAY. AS ROTATION STARTED, BIRD BECAME AIRBORNE AT THE SAME TIME A/C MAIN GEAR LIFTED OFF THE RUNWAY, CONTACTING THE GEAR STRUT ABOVE THE TIRES. BIRD HAD ABOUT A 4 FOOT WING SPAN AND WEIGHED ABOUT 20-35 POUNDS. NO EVIDENCE OF ACTUAL STRIKE UNTIL WALKAROUND COMPLETED AFTER LANDING IN TORONTO. NIL DAMAGE TO AIRCRAFT.
