I've tried Gill, People's, Estes, and they have tried Foremost and Scottsdale and others. And another independent agent said American Modern and American Reliable would not.
I need to insure a home against vandalism and fire.
I'm the owner and the occupant is not a tenant.
The occupant may have to be evicted, but millions of renters of homes and apartments have been evicted so what's new. The issue seems to be that the relationship I have with the occupant is that they are not a tenant. Some policies only pay a vandalism claim if there is a lease between the parties (Traveler's Insurance) is an example.
Another scenario is whether vandalism can be covered if the person who did the vandalism is the occupant or the person with the keys. When people speak of vandalism they normally think, some random or planned act by a person who is not an occupant of the house that is vandalized.
Of course there are exeptions, like your brother gets mad at you when he is visiting you and he punches a hole in the wall. That is non-occupant vandalism.
Need an indepedent agent.
I tried State Farm and Allstate and they do not, so the well known ones like Nationwide, etc. can be eliminated from the possibilities.

sad to say, I went to 8 agencies.....and found "improper" practices at some of them, quoting policies that would not have paid a claim. Also, agents who tell "inaccuracies" (lies they call them in some places).
I learned alot through my two week search for insurance.
Consumers need to beware some policies. I asked an agent if XYZ was covered and the answer was yes, but the truth was NO.

Ask to see the application before you fill it out and get documentation on what is covered and not.

All insurance agents are crooks, you just have to find the best of the worst.

I would recommend mine but I don't really like them.

the ones selling policies that won't pay a claim. could get sued.

And an underwriter for one company said any agent can write any policy they want, without the consent of the underwriter, and only when there is a claim does the truth come out.

And, any agent can refuse to write a policy due to "lack of comfort" even though the insurance company will absolutely cover the situation and pay a claim.

If the agent isn't paying the claim, why turn away customers?

An agent at an agency in one city quoted me a policy.
An agent at the "very same agency" but in another city, would not.
One of them has to be wrong.
