"Law!" instead of "Lord!"

"My stars!"

"My lands!"

"Et cetera" translated literally into English is "and the rest".

Not only is the term "coke bottle glasses" unknown to countless millions, so is Coke in a glass bottle.
People still wear thick lenses, they wear them for other reasons than cataract removal, and they still call them Coke-bottle lenses; and Coke still comes in glass bottles.

Yup. My great aunt Sylvia was an "old maid". She never had "chit nor child".

Listening to an audio book right now and heard a word I haven't heard in decades - "ptomaine poisoning" - which is food poisoning.

Yup!
Tincture Opi Camphorata!

I actually used to like the taste of it when my mother would rub it on my gums while I was teething.
Luckily, I didn't begin mugging the other kids in order to get money for my next fix of Paregoric.

Opiods settle down the digestive tract. Constipation is one of the side effects of taking pain killers in the opiod family.
