I don't know, but that reminded me: when my youngest child was born, my elderly uncle used the term 'nurse'- asked my mother "why doesn't she nurse instead of using baby bottles?"

much obliged - for "thank you"
crank the car - for "start" the car
hit the sack - for "go to bed"
castor oil - as a threat, as in "if you eat that, I'll have to give you castor oil to settle your stomach"
poor as a churchmouse
tell a story - instead of "lied"
worry wart - someone who irritated people.

LOL. My dad used to call me a "worry wart".

"So long" when you parted company with someone. Also, "ta-ta".
"parasol" - an umbrella for shielding you from the sun instead of the rain.
"press" - a light go-over with an iron to get the wrinkles out.

(LOL. My mother--born early 1900's-- always called the hymen the "maidenhead".)
Did it come up a lot in conversation?

Consumption is the old term for TB (tuberculosis). I always thought a "worry wart" was someone who worried a lot. Castor oil was not a threat, people did use it to treat constipation (among other things), I've heard it tasted horrible.
