We had a new guy who started on Tuesday and he never came back after Day 1 in this economy??? (work, office)

He started on Tuesday and I was telling him on Day 1 that it's a fast pace environment and you will have stay late some days. Then we had a meeting in the boardroom with the boss for 2 hours and the entire day was just very busy. I was off on Wed and Thurs and when I returned on Friday I found he left after day 1. Very surprising since he was in his 50's and how it is to get a job today.
I really hope what I told him didn't run away like a wimp. Maybe he needs a low stress environment like Target.
Maybe he felt the job simply was not worth the BS. I've had jobs that people had a high opinion of that were crap. *I* decide whether or not I am going to put up with stress and whether the job is worth it. Apparently, his was not. What was he doing anyway? Just curious.

He was hired to be a Career Advisor because one of the CA's moved to a different department
Oh puhlease, you've read enough to know his "people" skills are nigh near non existent - he wouldn't last a split second in retail (especially dealing with female customers)
The fact he thinks retail is "low stress" says it all.
Nope, I meant he was jealous the "old guy" at 50 quit...

Career advisor? Doesn't sound like it would be a high-stress job to me. Apparently, it's the BOSS that makes it high-stress. Two hour meetings? Sounds like "somebody" likes to hear themselves talk...need I say more?

It has been my experience when someone talks of their job as being "high stress" it often means they lack the qualifications and are in over their heads.
If I recall, TVSG didn't show up for a job he had been hired for, and either didn't even let them know of maybe took the chicken sh&t way out and left a voicemail.
