After looking for a job for over 12 months, I have finally given up. Yes, I am a "quitter," but I don't care. I have come to the conclusion there is no sense in wasting my time applying for jobs. I will never get hired, period. Also, there is no sense in working some min. wage job with an ***hole boss that doesn't care and treats everyone like crap.
Luckily, I have a "lifeline". I got accepted to a Mandarin Chinese language program at a university in China and my Post 9/11 GI Bill will be paying for the tuition. I will also receive a monthly housing allowance.
Maybe in a few years, I will head back to the US and "try again" but right now, I need a change and I think spending some time in China will help me refocus my life.

Smart move... You can make extra money by teaching English. How is your grammar? Does "present perfect continuous" ring a bell? As long as you look "Caucasian" they will love you as a teacher - this comes from my Asian friends... I am a European (originally from Poland) and I can tell you that a job market and the entire situation in the States is really bad... still better than in most countries but sooner or later it is going to be another Greece. Obviously, you will not hear it on the telly otherwise people would go bonkers.
Good luck and make sure you do not live in the countryside in China.
That doesn't sound like giving up, it sounds like getting yourself a new skill, and you'll be in a good position when the Reds decide to call in all the debts that Obama has racked up.

LOL! No more so then your Fabulous Republicans RAN up with wars and Bailouts! You really dont have a clue when it comes to politics. Totally blinded by whats really going on in either party!
Can I ask which city will you come to? I'm in Shanghai. If you will come here, I can give you some suggestions. I believe you gonna have a good time here. Generally, most Chinese are nice for foreigners. It's not easy for many Chinese to find a good job, but at list you can live by teaching English. BTW, what's "GI Bill"?
To KeepWalking (apparently a native Chinese person)
The "G.I. Bill" is a post-World War II benefit given to military veterans. It gives financial aid for college study to veterans. It's called "G.I. Bill" because average army people were called, jokingly, "General Issue," (G.I.) meaning they were all the same. The "bill" refers to the legislative form that made the aid into an available benefit. I believe, before World War II, there was no such benefit.
