I believe I would pass on those jobs! I'd rather go dig ditches, or fence post holes, (come to think of it, I have!

). And, I'll bet those guys don't get paid near what they should.

No other building in midtown has a tower anywhere close to the height of the Empire State building, which is now loaded up with transmitters, post 9/11. (For anyone not familiar with NYC, the majority of TV + radio transmitters in NY-NJ metro area used to be at top of north tower of WTC).

Although the Empire State Building will sway slightly in strong winds, those guys up in this tower are much better off than the ones that have to climb up those skinny little radio-tv towers scattered around the midwest. Some of those are over 1000 feet off the ground, there's no elevator to the 101st floor, and they sway almost like being on a ship.

Just a small clarification on the Empire State Building. 1 blimp did manage to moor onto the mast for aprox 3 minutes. The second mooring attempt was by a Navy blimp. While attempting to moor the blimp got out of control and almost killed a number of celebrities that were there for the occasion. The blimp also drenched people on the street below when it unloaded some of it's ballast water. Both mooring attempts were in 1931. The Hindenburg went down in 1937. Also movement of the building in winds is never more than 1/4 inch off center or 1/2 inch total.
